Small hands remember what small eyes forget.
Grandpa Wise says
You are not raising a child who must be entertained. A basket of ordinary things beats a bright screen every time — because they get to be the one making it interesting.
The Treasure Basket Hunt
Fill a basket with five very different things — a wooden spoon, a scarf, a pinecone, a metal whisk, a soft brush. Sit together and let them explore each one: cold or warm? loud or quiet? Then hide the basket and send them to 'find the treasure' and bring back the softest thing, the loudest thing, the coldest thing.
Why it works: Senses, describing words, and calm, focused attention.
